SAN JOSÉ, Calif. – The San José State softball team will host the University of New Mexico in the 2022 Mountain West Conference opener beginning Friday, March 18. The Spartans and Lobos will face off in a three-game series at Spartan Softball Complex from March 18 - March 20.
Friday and Saturday's games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

- The Spartans have the top pitching staff in the Mountain West with a conference best 2.11 ERA
- Jenessa Ullegue (9-1) leads the conference on the mound with an ERA of 1.31
- San José State boasts a .973 fielding percentage that is second best in the MW
- Alyssa Graham leads the team at the plate, averaging .395 (6th in MW) and has a team-high 32 hits
- Graham's eight doubles is second most in the conference
- New Mexico sits just above San José State at third in the Mountain West
- The Lobos are batting .291 (6th in the MW), just behind the Spartans' .297 average
- Andrea Howard is batting .400 to lead New Mexico in batting average and is good for fifth-best in the conference
- Howard is second in the Mountain West in RBIs (32), tied for third in runs scored (24) and locked in a three-way tie for most home runs (10)
- On the mound, Emma Guindon is tied for the second-lowest ERA in the conference (1.59) and Amber Linton's 76 strikeouts is second-most in the conference
