Spartans Take Weekend Series Sweep of San Diego State

SAN JOSE, Calif. 
Dalton Bowling hit two home runs and had six RBIs while Hunter Dorraugh added one home run and four RBIs to lead San José State (12-8, 5-4 Mountain West) in a doubleheader sweep over San Diego State (4-15, 0-6 Mountain West) Sunday taking the first game 8-7 and the second game 9-8 in walk off fashion to sweep the weekend series. It is the Spartans first series sweep over SDSU since 1999 and their first series win against the Aztecs since joining the Mountain West Conference.
 
GAME 1:

  • Game resumed Sunday after being halted Saturday due to rain in the bottom of the third with the Spartans leading 4-2
  • Theo Hardy had a career-high two triples which tied the SJSU single-game record and drove in three runs
  • Dorraugh hit his eighth home run of the season and had two RBIs with four runs scored
  • Bowling had two RBIs
  • Danny Zimmerman went 1-for-3 with a run scored
  • Right-handed pitcher Brady Hill nailed down his seventh save of the season to lead the Mountain West
  • Charles McAdoo extended his on base streak to 19 games and scored a run
  • Right-handed pitcher Aaron Eden started the resumed game Sunday pitching 5.0 innings and striking out two while earning his third win of the season

GAME 2:

  • The Spartans were down five runs at one point and came back to win on a walk off passed ball in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded scoring Robert Hamchuk
  • Dorraugh drove in two runs with a triple in the eighth cutting the Aztecs lead to one
  • Zimmerman tied the game up in the eighth at 8-8 with an RBI single scoring Dorraugh
  • Bowling hit his first two home runs of the season and had four RBIs
  • Makana Olaso added an RBI single and scored two runs
  • McAdoo extended his on base streak to 20 games
  • Joey Cammarata earned his second win of the season pitching a perfect ninth inning
