SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Kimo Fukofuka hit a two-run home run for his first as a Spartan and Dalton Bowling added three RBIs plus hit a solo shot to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning to lead San José State (12-9, 5-4 Mountain West) in a 12-9 loss at Santa Clara (12-7, 2-1 WCC) Tuesday evening at Schott Stadium.
The Broncos scored seven runs in the third inning with only one of the runs being earned, but the Spartans came all the way back to take the lead in the top of the fifth inning thanks to Bowling knocking in two for his sixth double of the season and Hill giving the Spartans the lead with an RBI single.
A wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning tied the game at 8-8 and a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh gave Santa Clara the one run lead until Bowling tied the game in the top of the ninth, but Coleman Brigman hit a walk off three run home run to win the game for the Broncos in the bottom of the ninth.
- For Fukofuka, it was his first RBIs as a Spartan and was his first start and all on his birthday
- Bowling scored two runs and has three home runs in his last two games
- Charles McAdoo went 3-for-5 and had an RBI single to tie the team lead with 18 RBIs and has been on base every game this season
- McAdoo also hit his seventh double of the season
- Micky Thompson went 3.0 innings giving up four hits and one earned run
- Brady Hill ended the night 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double and a run scored while playing right field
- Hunter Dorraugh had a double and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI
