FRESNO, Calif.—Alba Pedrero Galindo, Rozalina Youseva and Raquel Villan Pereira all won their singles matches on Saturday as the San José State women's tennis team open Mountain West play with a hard-found 4-3 loss to Colorado State in Fresno.

- The Spartans entered singles play down 1-0 after the Rams won the doubles point.
- The Rams led the contest 3-0 before SJSU won three consecutive singles matches to tie the score at 3-3.
- Pedrero Galindo got the first Spartan point with a 6-2, 6-2, win at the number-one position.
- Youseva then recorded her eighth singles win of the spring season with a 6-2, 7-5, win and the second Spartan point.
- Villa Pereira needed three sets to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-3, to tie the contest at 3-3.
- The final point came down to the fifth singles match and Jovana Babic. She won the first set 6-4, lost the second set 7-6 (8-6) and fell in the deciding set 6-4.
San José State is now 4-7 on the season and 0-1 in MW play. The Spartans face Wyoming Sunday at 9 a.m. in Fresno.
