Spartans Lose Heartbreaker at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - 
 Jessica Giacoma lead San José State (16-12, 2-3 Mountain West) in a heartbreaking 7-6 walk off loss to Colorado State (10-16, 2-3 Mountain West) on Saturday afternoon at Ram Field in game two of a three-game series with the Rams. Giacoma went 1-for 3 with an RBI double in the top of the sixth to give the Spartans a two run lead before the Rams stormed back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

SJSU managed to tie things up in the top of the seventh, but couldn't reclaim the lead and Colorado State had two hits in the bottom of the inning to walk it off. The Spartans are now 0-2 against the Rams 
 


  • The Spartans stranded 10 Rams on the base paths 
  • Ashley Goard got her first start of the season in the circle and allowed three hits and two runs in 3.1 IP before Lacie Ham was brought in for relief
  • Ham (3-4) had 4 strikeouts in 1.2 IP 
  • Jenessa Ullegue (11-3) got the loss in 1.2 IP, allowing just one run - the Rams' winning run 
  • Jillian Figueroa had 2 RBIs 
  • Six different Spartans recorded a hit in the loss
