SAN JOSE, Calif. - Robert Hamchuk extended his hitting streak to seven games with a 2-for-5 performance, while Charles McAdoo finished 2-for-4 to extend his on-base streak to 10 to lead San José State in the Mountain West opener against New Mexico on Friday night inside Excite Ballpark. The Spartans (6-4, 0-1 MW) outhit the Lobos (4-5, 1-0 MW), 8-5, but stranded 11 base runners in the 5-0 loss.
- RHP Carter Heninger worked 4.0 strong innings in releif, striking out six and allowed just one run
- LHP Ben Polack tossed 2.0 scoreless innings and fanned two
- New Mexico's RHP Riley Egloff threw 6.0 scoreless innings, scattering five hits and struck out seven
- James Shimashita, Ruben Mercado, Reece Hernandez and Brady Hill each had hits for the Spartans
- The Lobos' Cody Holtz went 1-for-2 with three walks and scored a run
