SAN JOSE, Calif. – Charles McAdoo hit a two-run home run in the eighth to lead San José State (7-4, 1-1 Mountain West) in a 3-1 win over New Mexico (4-6, 1-1 Mountain West) from Excite Ballpark Saturday afternoon.
McAdoo drove in all three runs for the Spartans on Saturday while James Shimashita had the early catch of the season in the sixth while running into the right field wall with two runners on and only one out then doubling off the runner at second who never tagged up to keep the game knotted at one.
- First Mountain West win of the season for the Spartans
- McAdoo ended the day 2-for-4 from the plate with his second home run of the season
- Robert Hamchuk went 3-for-4 with one run scored and hit two doubles (4) on the day
- Jonathan Clark pitched a season high 5.0 innings while only giving up three hits, no runs, no walks and struck out seven
- Darren Jansen pitched 2.0 innings of one hit ball and struck out two
- Corey Sanchez had his second win of the season and pitched 1.0 innings of scoreless baseball
- Brady Hill came in for his third save of the season
- Hunter Dorraugh went 1-for-3 with a run scored
