PHOENIX, Ariz. - Jenessa Ullegue led San José State (11-7, 0-0 Mountain West) at the plate in a split result on Day 2 of the Grand Canyon Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans lost to Montana (8-11, 0-0 Big Sky) in the eighth inning, 2-1 and beat Binghamton (7-7, 0-0 America East), 5-3, to complete the sweep of the Bearcats. Ullegue went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs.
Game 2 vs. Montana: L, 2-1
- Caroline Bowman (1-3) threw 7.0 complete innings and the bottom of the eighth on the mound and had seven strikeouts
- The Spartans had nine hits and had 10 runners stranded
- Ashley Rico went 3-for-4 with a home run to score the Spartans lone run
- Five Spartans recorded hits
- Alyssa Graham went 2-for-4
Game 1 vs. Binghamton: W, 5-3
- The Spartans had three runs on seven hits and no errors in the loss
- Five Spartans recorded hits
- Ullegue went yard over the center field fence to score Graham in a two RBI home run in her first at bat of the season and repeated the same result over the left field fence in the bottom of the fifth
- Lacie Ham (3-3) pitched a complete game for San José State
