SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Right-handed pitcher Aaron Eden (2-1) worked 5.0 strong innings, striking out three, Jack Colette drove in the game-winning runs with a two-RBI double in the sixth inning and RHP Brady Hill earned his fifth save of the season to lead San José State (9-4) past Cal Poly (5-7), 3-1, on Tuesday night inside Baggett Stadium. After allowing a run in the first inning, SJSU pitchers combined to shutout the Mustangs over the final eight innings.
LHP Ethan Ross, LHP Corey Sanchez, RHP Darren Jansen and Hill combined to throw 4.0 scoreless innings, striking out five. The Spartans' bullpen retired 8-of-9 to close out the game.
- Hill fanned two in the final inning to earn his Mountain West leading fifth save, while going 1-for-4 at the plate
- Colette went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs
- Charles McAdoo extended his on-base streak to 13 consecutive games with a base hit and walk
- Eden scattered four hits, one run and walked two
- Seven SJSU batters had a hit in the game
