Shetler Wins Bandon Dunes Championship to Lead San José State to Runner-Up Finish

BANDON, Ore. -
Caleb Shetler captured his first tournament win for San José State with a final round 68 (-3) to finish with an overall score of 209 (-4) to lead the Spartans to a runner-up finish at the Bandon Dunes Championship on the Sheep Ranch course (Par 71, 6,748 yards) this Tuesday. SJSU matched tournament champion Oregon with a final round 280 (-4) and finished just two shots behind the Ducks with a total score of 865 (+13).

  • San José State finished ahead of No. 14 Kansas (866/+14), Utah (873/+21), Fresno State (875/+23) and Utah Valley (875/+23) in the top five
  • The Spartans 4-under-par score of 280 in the final round was the best of the day
  • Shetler's round of 68 was the second lowest on the day to win by two shots
  • This is the first tournament win for a SJSU player since Sean Yu won the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite (Oct. 21-23, 2019)
    • Shetler is the second player to win the Bandon Dunes Championship, joining Cody Blick (March 13-14, 2015)
  • Luigi Wong carded a final round of 3-under-par 68 for the Spartans, his low round of the tournament
  • Kristopher Stiles posted a score of even-par 71 on the final day, while Zubair Firdaus finished with a score of 73 (+2)
    • Firdaus finished in a tie for 27th place, while Stiles ended the tournament in a tie for 36th place
  • The Spartans have five top-six finishes this season
