DAVIS, Calif. – Ruben Mercado hit a solo home run and had a career-high four RBIs to lead San José State (22-19, 11-10 Mountain West) in a 10-3 win at UC Davis (4-23, 3-15 Big West) Tuesday afternoon from Dobbins Stadium.
- The Spartans have hit a single-season team record of 53 home runs
- SJSU scored eight unanswered runs
- LHP James Shimashita came into the sixth inning with the bases loaded and one out and got out of it with no damage done
- Shimashita has pitched 4.2 innings this season without giving up a hit or run and earned his first career win
- Hunter Dorraugh had a sac fly and a double, he has 34 RBIs on the season
- Nathan Cadena hit an RBI double and had two hits
- Reece Hernandez hit an RBI single
- Danny Zimmerman had an RBI ground out and was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded for two RBIs on the day
- Jackson Forbes hit a sac fly
- Charles McAdoo extended his SJSU record on-base streak to 41 games with a pair of walks
- Omar Gastelum, Cadena (2), Robert Hamchuk, McAdoo, Hernandez, Brady Hill, Ruben Mercado, Danny Zimmerman and Dorraugh all scored runs for the Spartans
