BERKELEY, Calif. - Jenessa Ullegue hit a solo home run over the left field fence, scoring the Spartans' lone run in a competitive 4-1 loss to Cal in a midweek contest at Levine-Fricke Field on Wednesday afternoon. San José State (20-24, 6-12 Mountain West) gave the Golden Bears (26-20-1, 6-9 Pac-12) all four of their runs in the fifth inning allowing two walks and a grand slam.

- Jules Ronquillo robbed Cal of another home run in the sixth, jumping up on the center field fence and making the grab for the final out of the inning
- San José State stranded six Cal runners on base
- Ullegue (15-7) threw all 6.0 innings in the circle and had four strikeouts
- Alyssa Graham recorded the Spartans' other hit on the day

San José State will host conference-leader, San Diego State in a three-game series at Spartan Softball Complex this Friday-Sunday. Sunday, May 1 will honor two Spartan seniors, Caroline Bowman and Lilly Meek, before the final game of the three-game series with the Aztecs.
