TUCSON, Ariz.—Raquel Villan Pereira clinched the match for the Spartans Wednesday afternoon as the 10th-seeded San José State women's tennis team upset the seventh-seed Boise State 4-2 in the first round of the Mountain West Championship at the El Conquistador in Tucson, Ariz.

- The Spartans started the match by falling in doubles to Boise State.
- Irena Muradyan got San José State on the scoreboard with a straight-set win, 6-0, 6-3.
- SJSU took a 2-1 lead as Jovana Babic won 6-4, 6-2.
- After the Broncos won the next singles match, San José State got back-to-back singles wins from Lara Marco Mas and Villan Pereria.
San José State now faces No. 2-seed Colorado State Thursday at 2 p.m. PT in a quarterfinal match. The Rams won the earlier meeting this season, 4-3, on March 26 in Fresno.
