SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State women's tennis team hosts the final two contests of the 2021-22 season this weekend. The Spartans face Fresno State on Friday and Nevada on Saturday. Doubles play begins first at noon, followed by singles.

The Spartans play the only two home Mountain West contests of the season this weekend.

  • The team is looking to start a new winning streak after falling in the past four contests.
  • The last Spartan win was a home contest against UC San Diego on March 22 (4-1).
  • Fresno State leads the MW with a perfect 4-0 MW record.
  • Last year's contest with Fresno State took 4 1/2 hours to play with the Spartans winning 4-3.
  • The match came down to the #2 singles match between Spartan Rozalina Youseva and Bulldog Cristina Flaquer. The first set took two hours to play and went to tiebreaker before Youseva won 7-6 (4). The second set then took over an hour and half before Youseva won 7-5 to clinch the win for the Spartans and keep the undefeated season alive.
  • The Spartans defeated Nevada, 4-0, last year. The two teams also played each other in the fall at the SJSU/SCU Hidden Duals when the doubles teams competed.
