ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Dalton Bowling hit a triple and had three RBIs, Charles McAdoo hit a double and had two RBIs, plus Jack Colette added a solo home run to lead San José State (24-19, 13-10 Mountain West) in a 7-6 win at New Mexico (16-26, 7-16 Mountain West) Saturday night from Santa Ana Star Field.
The game was knotted at five in the top of the eighth inning and two outs when Bowling hit a long two RBI triple to right field to give the Spartans a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
- The Spartans have won six of their last seven overall
- This is the first time the Spartans have ever won a series at New Mexico
- RHP Darren Jansen earned his Mountain West leading seventh win of the season going the final three innings while striking out six including all three batters he faced in the ninth inning
- Bowling has 36 RBIs on the season and is on a seven-game hitting streak
- All of Bowling's RBIs came with two outs
- Colette's home run was his third of the season
- McAdoo has touched base in 43 straight games and leads the Spartans with 44 RBIs, plus has a hit in 36 of their 43 games this season
- McAdoo scored a run on a wild pitch
- LHP Ethan Ross had a career-high eight strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched
- Robert Hamchuk had two doubles on the night, an RBI and a run scored
- Makana Olaso also had a double
- This is the second Mountain West series in a row the Spartans have won
