San José State Named Finalist for SVG Outstanding Live Game Production

2022 SVG Awards Finalists

SAN JOSE, Calif. -
San José State Athletics is a finalist for the Sports Video Group (SVG) College Sports Media Awards, announced by the organization on Wednesday. The Spartans are 1-of-13 finalists for most outstanding live game production.

"We placed a strong emphasis on increasing our broadcast opportunities and forged a strong relationship with NBC Sports Bay Area and California," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "Scott MacDonald, Justin Allegri and the broadcast team did a great job and we look forward to enhancing these opportunities in the immediate future."

This is the first time that the Spartans have been a finalist for the SVG College Sports Media Awards. Another first was the production of a football game on NBC Sports Bay Area as the Spartans defeated New Mexico State, 37-31, in front of nearly 16,000 fans inside CEFCU stadium. The game witnessed strong ratings on NBC Sports Bay Area.

"This year's field is the largest number of entries we've ever received and it's inspiring to see that work being done for everything from live game coverage to video board shows to social media content," said Brandon Costa, Director of Digital at Sports Video Group and Program Director of the SVG College Summit. "This industry is loaded with talented producers, editors, storytellers, technicians, administrators, and students. It's an honor for us at SVG to celebrate this community with these awards for the 14th consecutive year."

"One of our top priorities here at San José State is to increase our brand awareness through broadcast and production of our sports on television," said Deputy Athletics Director for PR and Content Strategy Scott MacDonald. "This recognition is a direct result of the strong relationship with NBC Sports Bay Area and the hard work that Justin Allegri and his team has put in to showcase SJSU Athletics in the best possible way. Thank you to Ben Rodrigues and Jason Liu from NBC Bay Area for a great first year."

Finalists will be celebrated and winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 14th Annual SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA which returns to an in-person ceremony at the SVG College Summit in the Omni Atlanta Hotel on June 13 at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET.
