SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—Natasha Andrea Oon and Kajsa Arwefjäll each shot a 4-under 68 in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Women's Golf Championship as the fifth-ranked San José State women's golf team moved into a tie for 14th in the team standings.
- Oon moved 70 spots in the individual standings and is now tied for 11th at 1-over 145. She started the second round with birdies on four of her first seven holes. Her only bogey came on No. 1 on the course, her 10th of the day as the Spartans played the back nine first on Saturday.
- Arwefjäll also made a significant jump up the individual standings, moving 81 spots as she is tied for 19th at 3-over 147. She had a clean sheet through 14 holes, making her fourth birdie on No. 5 before going bogey-birdie-par-par to finish her round.
- Louisa Carlbom, Lucia Lopez Ortega and Antonia Malate each shot an 80 in the second round. Carlbom is now tied for 94th at 11-over 155, followed by Lopez Ortega tied for 101st at 12-over 156, and Malate tied for 124th at 17-over 161.
- Lopez Ortega's highlight of the round came on her final hole, No. 9, as she made her second eagle of the tournament and fifth of the season. She was in the fairway, 155 yards from the hole, when she hit her shot to the green. The ball bounced and rolled in for the only eagle on the hole after two rounds.
- San José State jumped up seven spots in the team standings after shooting a 296 on Saturday. The team is tied with Virginia in 14th place at +27. The two teams finished 1-2 at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional last week.
- The Spartans will look to finish the third round as one of the top-15 teams to advance to the final round on Monday. The top-15 teams and top-nine individuals, not on an advancing team, will play on Monday to determine the top-8 teams to advance to match play and the individual stroke-play champion.
San Jose State begins third-round action Sunday at 11:41 a.m., off of the first tee with TCU and Virginia.
