Four Spartans Named All-Mountain West

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Charles McAdoo, Robert Hamchuk, Darren Jansen and Brady Hill were named to the All-Mountain West team, announced by the conference on Thursday. McAdoo, Hamchuk and Jansen all made First Team All-Mountain West and Hill was named Second Team All-Mountain West. This was the first All-Mountain West selections for all four players. The Spartans open the Mountain West Championship at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against Nevada on the Mountain West Network.



Charles McAdoo

  • Sophomore from Antioch, Calif.
  • Named Mountain West Player of the Week (5/16)
  • Had an SJSU record 44 game on-base streak this season
  • Had the second-best batting average of .360 and was eighth in the Mountain West
  • Finished the season with 45 hits, 76 runs, and 58 RBI's
  • Leads the team in doubles while ranking third in the MW
  • Drew 51 starts of 52 appearances 
  • Tallied one base stolen and two home runs at San Diego State (4/8)
  • Hit the game winner double to center field against Fresno State (5/6)
  • Had a season-best of four hits and four runs scored against Air Force (5/15)
  • Fielding percentage of .968


Robert Hamchuk

  • Redshirt sophomore from San Jose, Calif.
  • Named Mountain West Player of the Week (5/9)
  • Leads the team with a batting average of .380 while being ranked sixth in the Mountain West
  • Leads the team in hits (87) and is ranked third in the MW
  • Has five leadoff home runs this season
  • Had one triple, three hits, and three runs scored at USC (4/1)
  • Recorded two home runs against Fresno St. (5/7), finishing with 10 for the season
  • Tallied six hits at Air Force (5/15) and five runs scored
  • Recorded a fielding percentage of .963
  • Finished the season with 54 runs, 87 hits, 35 RBIs, and 10 home runs


Darren Jansen

  • Redshirt junior from Fresno, Calif.
  • Leads the pitching staff with an era of 4.50 while ranking fourth in the Mountain West 
  • Posted a record of 8-2 which is good for second in the Mountain West Conference
  • Finished the season with 57 strikeouts, 56 innings pitched and 29 appearances
  • Recorded his first shut out after throwing four strike outs and pitching 3.1 innings against Portland (2/27) 
  • Threw a career-high of 5.0 innings pitched against UNLV (3/26)
  • Finished the season with 57 strikeouts and 56 innings pitched 


Brady Hill

  • Redshirt sophomore from Spokane, Wash.
  • Leads the Mountain West in saves with 10 which is good for 19 in the country
  • Appeared on the mound 23 times and started 15 games as a position player
  • Threw 23.1 innings this season with 25 strikeouts
  • Hit .270 with 17 hits, 10 runs, and three RBIs
  • Recorded four strikeouts against Omaha (2/19)
  • Tallied three hits including one double at Santa Clara (3/22)
