Spartans Release 2022 Men's Soccer Schedule

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State Men's soccer will host 10 games at the Spartan Soccer Complex including two exhibitions in their 2022 schedule, announced by head coach Simon Tobin on Friday. The Spartans open with a pair of home exhibition games against Santa Barbara on Aug. 14 and Dominican on Aug. 19. SJSU begins their regular season campaign at home against Cal State Bakersfield on Aug. 25 before hitting the road for three including Bay Area rivals USF (Sept. 1) and Stanford (Sept. 4).



SJSU will then head home and host four of their next five games including Saint Mary's on Sept. 8, Pacific on Sept. 22 and their conference opener against Incarnate Word on Sept. 30. followed up by another conference foe in UTRGV on Oct. 2. The Spartans then play three on the road against conference rivals Houston Baptist (Oct. 9), UNLV (Oct. 14) and Dixie State (Oct. 16) before heading home for two against Cal Baptist on Oct. 21 and Utah Valley on Oct. 23. After a road trip against two of the best last season in the WAC with Air Force (Oct. 28) and Grand Canyon (Oct. 30), the Spartans end their regular season against defending WAC champions Seattle at home on Nov. 4 before the WAC tournament.

The Spartans return senior defender Kasper Poulsgaard who had three goals and seven points a season ago, plus senior midfielder Finlay Wood who finished last season with eight points, two goals and four assists. Senior goalie David Sweeney also makes his return to the Spartans after sporting a 1.68 GAA in 14 games last season including getting a win in the WAC tournament.
