San José State Expands Partnership with NBC Sports Bay Area

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State Athletics and NBC Sports Bay Area have announced a new partnership for the 2022-23 year with 14 games airing live, along with six episodes of The Charge, SJSU's All-Access Show, and televising the annual Sammy Awards at the California Theatre in downtown San José. SJSU and NBC Sports Bay Area were a finalist for the 2022 Sports Video Group (SVG) College Media Awards for Most Outstanding Live Game Production for the New Mexico State-San José State football game last season.

"NBC Sports Bay Area is one of the preeminent regional television networks in the nation, and we are thrilled to build on our partnership in the sixth-largest media market in the country," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "This is the largest regional network partnership in our school's history and allows us to further extend the San José State brand throughout California and the Bay Area."

The Spartans first teamed up with NBC Sports Bay Area last year to produce six episodes of The Charge, the Sammy Awards and four contests which included football, men's basketball and two women's basketball games in the inaugural year of this partnership. SJSU will increase this year's TV package to 14 games for 2022-23, including two football games, The Sammy's, six episodes of The Charge, and additional Olympic sports.

"We have so many unique stories here at San José State and this partnership will continue to allow us to showcase those stories and our tremendous student-athletes," said Deputy Athletics Director for PR and Content Strategy Scott MacDonald. "We received strong feedback from our alumni, fans, donors, staff and student-athletes, and look forward to providing more content to the Bay Area this season."
