SJSU's Brady Hill Signs with Colorado Rockies

DENVER - San José State pitcher Brady Hill has signed with the Colorado Rockies, announced by the organization on Wednesday. Hill was selected in the 15th round (446 overall) by the Rockies in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft last week and is the fifth player to be drafted under head coach Brad Sanfilippo. Hill follows in the footsteps of Ruben Ibarra who signed with the Cincinnati Reds after being drafted in the fourth round last year.

"I'm very excited ot sign my first professional contract," Hill said. "It shows how great my coaches and teammates have been my whole life and I have to give all my thanks to everyone who has helped me pursue my goals."

"We couldn't be any happier for Brady and the Hill family," Sanfilippo said. "Brady is a phenomenal athlete and an even better person and we are excited about his opportunity with the Colorado Rockies. We know he has a bight future in their organization."

This was the second time Hill had been drafted by the Rockies after being selected in the 39th round of the 2019 MLB draft. Hill led the Mountain West Conference with 10 saves last season which was good for 26 in the nation and was named Second Team All-Mountain West.

  • Threw 26.1 innings this season with 28 strikeouts and posted a 6.15 ERA with a 1-2 record
  • Hit .270 with 17 hits, 10 runs, and three RBIs as an outfielder
  • Recorded four strikeouts against Omaha (2/19)
  • Tallied three hits including one double at Santa Clara (3/22)
