SJSU's Cordeiro Named to 2022 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

ATLANTA - San José State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro was named to the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy watch list, announced by the organization on Thursday. Cordeiro is in his first season with the Spartans after transferring from Hawaii and has thrown for 6,167 yards and 45 touchdowns during his career.

Established in 2005, the Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their impact, and inspire greater service in the world. A member of the National College Football Awards Association, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented annually to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field. It is the first major award honoring the character of service to others.

  • Passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown in a 50-45 vs. Colorado St (11/20/21)
  • Finished his career at Hawaii with 6,167 passing yards and 45 touchdown passes thrown 
  • His career totals for pass completions, passing yards and total offense rank fifth best for the Rainbow Warriors
