CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.—For the second consecutive year, five San José State University women's golfers have been recognized for their achievements in the classroom by being named Women's Golf Coaches' Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for the 2021-22 season.
Those honored include:
Antonia Malate – fourth honor
Kajsa Arwefjäll – third honor
Louisa Carlbom – second honor
Jordyn Parr – second honor
Lucia Lopez Ortega – first honor
The five student-athletes all played roles in San José State's most successful season in recent history. Arwefjäll was an honorable mention All-America honoree by Golfweek, while she and Malate played at the Arnold Palmer Cup, July 1-3, in Switzerland. Malate, Arwefjäll and Lopez Ortega were first team All-Mountain West honorees for the season.
They are five of the 1,485 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. To be selected for the All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average.
About the Women's Golf Coaches Association
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
