James Jones and Kylen Mills Join SJSU Broadcast Team

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Justin Allegri will begin his 10th season in the booth calling San José State football games and joining him for the two televised games on NBC Sports Bay Area will be former Spartan wide receiver and Super Bowl champion James Jones, along with KRON4's Kylen Mills. Allegri will serve as the play-by-play announcer, while Jones will be the analyst and Mills will be the sideline reporter for the Spartans.

The home opener against Portland State on Thursday, Sept. 1 will kick at 7:30 p.m. at CEFCU Stadium on NBC Sports Bay Area, and the Mountain West contest against Colorado State on Saturday, Nov. 5 will air on NBC Sports Bay Area. A game time for the CSU game will be determined at a later date after the NBA schedule is released.

"We have put together a very strong broadcast team for the 2022 season," said Scott MacDonald, SJSU's Deputy Athletics Director. "James serves as an analyst for the NFL Network and his knowledge of the game, and San José State, will enhance our broadcasts. Kylen will provide inside information each game from the sidelines to bring the high-energy, in-game experience to our fans."

JAMES JONES

  • Played four seasons for the Spartans from 2003-06 and led SJSU to a 9-4 record during his senior season, with 70 catches, 893 yards and 10 touchdowns.
  • Finished with 126 receptions for 1,496 yards and 12 touchdowns, ending his career fourth all-time on the all-time receptions list.
  • Drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers in 2007.
  • Played nine seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers (2007-13, '15) and the Oakland Raiders (2014).
  • Caught five passes in the Packers' Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25.
  • Inducted into the San José State University Sports Hall of Fame in 2018 and in 2021 became 1-of-13 recipients to the San Jose State Football Ring of Honor.
  • Now retired as a NFL player, Jones now can be seen on the NFL Network and is active in community activities with a focus on his Love Jones 4 Kids foundation to help children of all ages.

KYLEN MILLS

  • Joins the San Jose State broadcast team for her second season on the TV Sideline.
  • Started at KRON4 team in September of 2020 as a sports reporter.
  • Spent more than three years in Lexington, Ky. covering the Kentucky Wildcats.
  • Won a Kentucky AP Broadcasters Award and was nominated for a regional Emmy for Sports Feature Story.
  • Chicago-area native with a broadcast journalism degree from Lewis University, where she also played soccer.

JUSTIN ALLEGRI

  • This season will be his 10th in the booth for San Jose State football calling over 100 games since his first season in 2013.
  • In addition to being the Voice of the Spartans, he is the Broadcast and Mountain West Network Producer for San Jose State Athletics. He oversees the LiveStream production of other Spartan sports, press conferences, and interviews which air on the Mountain West Digital Network and NBC Sports Bay Area. 
  • While his voice is heard locally and regionally with his SJSU broadcasts, he is heard around the world on Sony Playstation's "MLB The Show". Allegri began working with Playstation in 2014.
  • He has worked part time as a broadcaster for the San Jose Giants since 2015 and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from San José State.
