HONOLULU - San José State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko and linebacker Alii Matau were named to the 2022 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watch list, announced by the organization on Thursday.
Cordeiro is in his first season with the Spartans after transferring from Hawaii and has thrown for 6,167 yards and 45 touchdowns during his career. Fehoko is a two-time First Team All-Mountain West Defense and led the team in tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles a season ago. Matau had 51 tackles, including nine against Colorado State, plus 4.5 tackles for loss last season.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry that epitomizes great ability and integrity. The watch list is composed of 85 players from 43 different FBS schools.
