LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Haylee Nelson moved into the top-10 among San José State career kill leaders on Saturday as the Spartan went toe-to-toe with Loyola Marymount in a 3-2 loss Saturday afternoon at Gersten Pavilion.

- Nelson led the Spartans with 15 kills to move into ninth all-time at 1,202 kills. She started the day in 11th place and passed Colleen Burke (1,196 kills) and Latahevai Lousi (1,201).
- Three Spartans recorded double-digit kills in the match – Nelson at 15, Amethyst Harper at 13 and Blaire Fleming with 11.
- Sarah Smevog led the Spartans with 11 digs and recorded her first two kills of the season.
- The Spartans took the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-19.
- Sets two and three were led by SJSU and LMU, respectively, from the first serve. Neither set had a tied score or a lead change.
- The Spartans had a 22-19 lead in the fourth set, but the Lions scored the final six points to force a fifth set.
San José State returns to Los Angeles next weekend for the Trojan Challenge. The Spartans face New Mexico State on Friday, Milwaukee on Saturday and Southern California next Sunday.
