SAN JOSE, Calif. - Chevan Cordeiro threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns, Kairee Robinson rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns and the defense allowed only 206 yards of total offense and no defensive points to lead San José State (2-1, 0-0 Mountain West) in a 34-6 win over Western Michigan (1-3, 1-0 MAC) on Saturday night at CEFCU Stadium.

  • SJSU's defense held the Broncos to only eight completions and 71 passing yards.
  • The Spartans allowed the fewest completions in a game since Oct. 28th, 2017 when they gave up seven completions to San Diego State.

  • The Spartans had three key defensive fourth-down stops:
    • The first fourth-down stop occurred on 4th and 2 at their own six-yard line with 4:03 left in the first quarter.

    • The third fourth-down stop was on a 4th and 1 at the Western Michigan 23-yard line just 11 seconds into the fourth quarter.
  • The longest offensive play of the game was an 82-yard completion from Cordeiro to Justin Lockhart in the 1st quarter which set up a field goal for the Spartans, the first three points of the game.
  • Lockhart's 82-yard reception was the longest catch and run of his career.
  • Lockhart finished with a game-high 116 receiving yards.
  • In the second quarter, receiver Elijah Cooks threw his second career pass while Cordeiro made his first career catch on a 19-yard completion.
  • That trick play by the Spartans led to a Robinson five-yard rushing touchdown.
  • Cooks caught his first touchdown of the season on a 13-yard pass from Cordeiro with just 22 seconds remaining in the second quarter to put SJSU up 17-0 heading into halftime.
  • Charles Ross caught his first touchdown catch of the season on a 39-yard pass from Cordeiro to put the Spartans up 24-0 in the third quarter.
