SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State women's soccer (0-3-1, 0-0 Mountain West) will take on the University of Denver (2-3-1, 0-0 Summit League) at the Spartan Soccer Complex on Thursday this week before traveling to Stockton, Calif. for a matchup with the University of Pacific (2-0-4, 0-0 West Coast Conference) on Sunday.
FIRST TOUCHES
- SJSU picked up their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw against UC Santa Barbara on Sunday
- The Spartans scored their first two goals of the season in the game, a header by Cynthia Flores and a volley by Bella Flocchini
- Flocchini leads the team with five shots this season
- The Denver Pioneers have a record of 2-3-1 on the season
- The Pioneers finished atop the standings in the Summit League in 2021 with a record of 8-0-1
- The Spartans and Pioneers only previous matchup was in 2003 when the Pioneers earned a 2-1 victory at a neutral site
- The University of Pacific Tigers hold a record of 2-0-4 this season
- The Tigers have tied their previous three matches
- The Spartans and Tigers are 8-8-0 against one another historically
- The last matchup between the two teams was in 2014 in Stockton, Calif. when the Spartans won 4-0
PEDIATRIC CANCER AWARENESS GAME: The Spartans are participating in their annual Pediatric Cancer Awareness game on Thursday. In support of the Go4theGoal Foundation, all players will be wearing gold laces. $4 from every $5 pair of laces and 100% of all donations directly benefit kids and families in the state where the funds are raised.
