The San José State women's golf team returns to competition at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah on Monday and Tuesday at the famed Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill. The par-72 course will play at 6,166 yards.

The Spartans will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8:30 a.m.CT/6:30 a.m. PT shotgun start, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT shotgun start. SJSU will play the first two rounds with Texas Tech and Tennessee.

The Spartans are one of 15 teams participating in the tournament –Alabama Auburn, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Kentucky, Northwestern Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Purdue, San José State, Tennessee, TCU, Texas Tech and host Illinois.
At last year's tournament, the Spartans finished fifth at 10-under 854 after shooting a 10-under 278 in the final round. Malate and Arwefjäll finished tied for 13th at 3-under 213.
This season, the San José State women's golf program is participating in the Fold of Honor Military Tribute Program. The Spartans will carry a golf bag in honor of 2nd Lt Travis A. Morgado who was from San Jose. His life was cut short during active duty in Zharay, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his patrol with an improvised explosive device (May 23, 2012). He also has connections to San José State as his maternal grandparents and an aunt are Spartan alumni.
