LOS ANGELES, Calif.— Utku Karhan led No. 15 San Josè State (5-12, 0-2) against No. 6 (DIII) Whittier (5-13, 0-2) on the road, as the Spartans won 13-5 with Karhan recording three goals on the afternoon. 

  • Connor Macmillan, Mark Kis, Gal Haimovich, Itey Nemet, Niels Hofmeijer, Erik Duesund, Javi Ibanez and Bende Pardi all also scored on the afternoon. 
  • The Spartans recorded 17 steals on the afternoon as well to go along with three blocks. 
  • The Spartans also recorded 37 shot attempts on the afternoon in comparison to Whittier getting just 27 total. 
  • SJSU goalkeeper Willem Simon also recorded 13 saves on the afternoon. 
  • Bendeguz Melkuhn also recorded a team leading four assists on the afternoon. 


UP NEXT – The Spartans will play next in the Julian Fraser Memorial invite in Santa Clara and at the SRAC at SJSU against George Washington, Bucknell, Brown and Harvard. SJSU will return home on Sunday, Oct. 23 for the first time since early September.
