LARAMIE, Wyo. - Chevan Cordeiro threw for 314 yards while being apart of three touchdowns and Elijah Cooks amassed 177 receiving yards to lead San José State (3-1, 1-0 Mountain West) to a 33-16 win at Wyoming (3-3, 1-1 Mountain West) on Saturday night.
- The Spartans generated 456 yards of total offense compared to 253 yards for Wyoming.
- It was the most yards of offense for the Spartans since November 6th, 2021 against Nevada.
- It is the Spartans third straight conference opening win.
- Cordeiro completed 21 of 37 passing attempts for 314 yards and one passing touchdown.
- Cordeiro also ran for 24 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
- Eight of Cordeiro's passes were caught by Cooks.
- Kairee Robinson rushed 20 times for 102 yards and one touchdown.
- Kyle Harmon led the Spartans defense with 11 tackles, four of which were solo tackles.
- Travis Benham booted a 54-yard punt that was downed at the Wyoming one-yard line by Michael Dansby with 7:54 left in the first quarter.
- After Benham's punt, the Spartans forced a safety as Noah Wright and Bryun Parham combined to stuff a Wyoming rushing attempt in the end zone.
- Taren Schive made a career-long, 40-yard field goal to put SJSU up 5-3 with 11:34 remaining in the second quarter.
- The Spartans made a critical defensive stop on 4th and 1 at their own 40-yard line with 8:05 left in the second quarter.
- The very next play after the turnover on downs was a 52-yard completion from Cordeiro to Cooks to position the Spartans within Wyoming's 10-yard line.
- The big completion led to a Spartans score a few plays later when Cordeiro hooked up with Skylar Loving-Black for an eight-yard touchdown.
- The touchdown was Loving-Black's first of his career.
- Cordeiro scored a one-yard rushing touchdown with only 18 seconds left in the second quarter to send the Spartans into halftime with a 19-10 lead.
- On the second play from scrimmage of the third quarter, Cade Hall recorded his first-career interception by catching a pass that was tipped into the air by Kenyon Reed.
- The Spartans took advantage of the turnover by scoring on the ensuing offensive drive via a Robinson one-yard touchdown run.
- Viliami Fehoko registered his first sack of the year on the final play of the third quarter.
- Cordeiro added an 18-yard rushing touchdown to extend the Spartans lead to 33-16 with 6:12 left in the game.
