Spartans Win Tight Matchup Against George Washington



SANTA CLARA, Calif.— Bende Pardi led the way for the Spartans with three goals as No. 15 San Josè State (7-11, 0-2) came back to defeat No. 19 George Washington (16-2, 6-1) 10-9 on the first day of the Julian Fraser Memorial Invite. 

  • Mark Kis, Utku Karhan, Maro Tiozzo, Bence Szabo, Niels Hofmeijer, Bendeguz Melkuhn and Laszlo Szieben also all netted goals. 
  • Pardi scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of the game to put San Josè State ahead and give them a lead they would never relinquish. 
  • The Spartans outscored George Washington 8-4 in the first and fourth quarters. 
  • SJSU went 5-0 in sprints and recorded 32 shots on goal.
  • SJSU also recorded 11 steals on the afternoon.
