SANTA CLARA, Calif.— Bende Pardi led the way with six goals against Brown and one goal against Bucknell as No. 15 San Josè State netted 31 total goals to defeat Bucknell 11-9 and Brown 21-14 on day two of the Julian Fraser Memorial Invite.
Game One against Bucknell
- Itay Nemet (2), Bence Szabo (2), Maro Tiozzo (2), Nikola Nikolic, Utku Karhan, Gal Haimovich Niels Hofmeijer all netted at least one goal on the afternoon.
- The Spartans also had 34 shot attempts outshooting Bucknell by just one shot making for a total of 67 shot attempts.
- Goalkeeper Jamie Steingraf recorded a game high 15 saves on the afternoon.
- SJSU also recorded eight assists, led by Laszlo Szieben who had three on the day.
Game Two Against Brown
- The Spartans recorded a season high 21 goals on the afternoon.
- SJSU also recorded their fourth straight victory, and third in a matter of 24 hours after playing Bucknell four hours before Brown, and squaring off against George Washington on Friday, Oct. 21.
- Pardi's six goals is a season high for the sophomore.
- Willem Simon recorded four saves on the afternoon.
- Maro Tiozzo and Pardi each recorded five assists leading to 10 of the team's 18 total.
- Szieben recorded four of the team's nine total steals on the afternoon.
UP NEXT – The Spartans will continue play against Harvard at the SRAC on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9:00 a.m. PST. SJSU will return home for the first time since September 10.
