SAN JOSE, Calif. - David Sweeney made five saves and Anthony Guzman scored the match-winning goal to lead San José State (8-4-2, 4-1-1 WAC) to a 1-0 victory over Utah Valley (4-7-1, 2-4-0 WAC) on Sunday afternoon.
- Sweeney's five saves were the second-most saves he has made in a match this season behind the 12 saves he recorded at Stanford on September 4th.
- Sweeney earned his fifth shutout of the season which is the most shutouts by any goalkeeper in the WAC in 2022.
- Guzman's match-winning goal was the second goal of his career.
- Beau Leroux collected his first assist of the season on Guzman's goal.
- Leroux, along with Wood, led the Spartans in shots as they both had two.
- With the win, the Spartans jump past Seattle (5-7-1, 4-2-0 WAC) into second place in the WAC.
UP NEXT: The Spartans head back out on the road next week for a meeting with the top-seeded Air Force Falcons (7-4-2, 6-0-0 WAC). Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (PT) on October 28th at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado.
