Three Spartans In Top-15 as Women's Golf Stays in Second Place

STANFORD, Calif.—Kajsa Arwefjäll shot the low round of the day for the San José State women's golf team, and three Spartans are in the top-15 after two rounds at the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course.
 

  • The Spartans ended the day in second place a 4-under 564 after shooting a 1-over 285 for the second round.
  • Arwefjäll shot a two-under 69 in the second round and is tied for seventh at 2-under 140. She made nine pars and two birdies over her first 11 holes and finished the day with 14 pars and three birdies.
  • Antonia Malate is tied for second place at 4-under 138. She shot a 1-under 70 in the second round, carrying a clean card into her final hole before making a bogey on #9 to finish the day.
  • Malate is one of three players tied for second place and are seven shots behind Stanford's Rose Zhang who is 11-under for her two rounds.
  • Lucia Lopez Ortega is tied for 12th at 1-under 141. She shot a 3-over 74 on Saturday, making three birdies on her round.
  • Louisa Carlbom is tied for 38th at 3-over 145. She shot a 1-over 72, making four birdies on the day.
  • Jordyn Parr shot a 5-over 76 and is tied for 81st at 10-over 152. She made her first eagle of the season on the par-4, 396-yard 5th hole.
  • Playing as an individual, Rebecca Gyllner shot an even par 71 and is tied for 46th at 4-over 146. She made her first collegiate eagle on the par-5, 490-yard 7th hole.
  • San José State is one of two teams who finished the day under par as leader Stanford is 11-under after shooting a 281 in the second round. Iowa State is four shots behind the Spartans.

 
Final round action begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Spartans will start the day on holes 1-4, and will play with Stanford, Iowa State and Texas.
