Spartans Set for Senior Day With First-Round Bye on the Line

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State Spartans wrap up their regular season on Thursday night against Fresno State, hoping to clinch a top-two seed in the Mountain West and a first-round bye in the Mountain West Championship.

  • The Spartans enter the contest tied for second place with Wyoming and San Diego State, however both Wyoming and San Diego State hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Spartans.

  • The Spartans will honor five seniors on Senior Day including Alexus Jackson, Juliane Laurent, Natalia Nava, Maddie Toomer, and Jada Wilson.
  • SJSU officially clinched a berth in the Mountain West Championship on Sunday afternoon.

  • The Spartans are an impressive 4-2-1 in the month of October and have picked up wins in three of their four previous matches.
  • The Fresno State Bulldogs are winless in their previous six matches.
  • The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-1 draw to Colorado State on Oct. 23.
  • The Spartans are 11-18-3 all-time against Fresno State.
  • Fresno State won 3-1 when the two sides dueled on the final day of the season in 2021.

NEXT MATCH: If the Spartans finish as a top-two seed, their next match will be a semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 2. If they do not finish in the top two, their next match will be a quarterfinal match on Sunday, Oct. 30. All Mountain West Championship matches will take place in Albuquerque, N.M. and can be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
