Spartans Shoot 10-Under To Take Lead At 20th Annual Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C.—All five Spartan women's golfers shot even par or better, led by Louisa Carlbom's 67, as San José State shot a 10-under 278 in the first round to end the day in first place at the 20th Annual Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall – Dye Course.

  • Carlbom shot her second 67 of the season, matching the 67 she shot in the first round of the Illini Women's Invitational. She is tied for third in the individual standings, one shot behind the leaders.
  • Carlbom leads the field in par-4 scoring at -5. She made six birdies during her round and finished her final 10 holes at 3-under par.
  • Antonia Malate is tied for 10th at 3-under 69, after making six birdies during her round.
  • Kajsa Arwefjäll is also tied for 10th at 3-under 69. She made three birdies, one bogey and 14 pars on the day.
  • Lucia Lopez Ortega and Rebecca Gyllner are tied for 30th at even-par 72. Lopez Ortega made two birdies on the day, while Gyllner made three over her first seven holes.
  • Ninth-ranked San José State has a one-shot lead over No. 2 Wake Forest and a three-shot lead over No. 18 Florida State.
  • The Spartans lead the field in birdies made with 21 and in par-4 scoring at -9. The next closest team is Florida State at -1. The Spartans are second in the field in par-5 scoring at -4.


SJSU begins the second round with tee times beginning on Saturday at 10:09 a.m./7:09 a.m.
