WILMINGTON, N.C.—Louisa Carlbom won her first collegiate tournament as the San José State women's golf team finished the fall season the way they started it, winning the 20th Annual Landfall Tradition team and individual titles on Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall – Dye Course.
- Carlbom shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to tie Charlotte Heath at Florida State for medalist honors at 10-under 206. The 206 shot by both players set a new tournament record for individual low tournament score.
- Carlbom recorded a clean card in the third round, her best three-round score of her Spartan career.
- Carlbom led the field in par-4 scoring at 5-under and tied for first in birdies made with 16.
- The Spartans shot an 8-under 280 in the final round to win the tournament at 22-under 842, the third-lowest 54-hole score in school history. The 842 also set a new tournament record by seven strokes.
- The team led the field in par-4 scoring at -13 and birdies made with 57.
- SJSU won the tournament by six shots over second-ranked Wake Forest, seven shots over No. 18 Florida State and 10 shots over fourth-ranked South Carolina, the only four teams to finish under par for the weekend.
- The tournament title is the second for San José State this fall after the team started the season winning the USF Intercollegiate by four shots over UCLA.
- A true team championship, every player contributed at least one round to the team score, and all finished in the top-25.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for ninth at 4-under 212. She shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday, making four birdies on the day including back-to-back to finish the round.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega and Rebecca Gyllner tied for 20th at 1-under 215. Lopez Ortega shot her best round of the tournament with a 3-under 69. She made six birdies during her round.
- Gyllner had the best finish of her young Spartan career and shot a 71 to finish the tournament. She was that close to a clean card with two birdies and 15 pars but had a bogey on her 15th hole of the day, the par-4 #17, as her only blemish.
- Antonia Malate tied for 25th at even-par 216, shooting a 76 on Sunday.
UP NEXT – The Spartans take a break for academics before returning to competition in February of 2023. The team begins the spring season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
