SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The San Josè State Spartans will be the sixth seed headed into the Golden Coast Conference Tournament facing off against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara in round one on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT at UCSB.
Looking Back
- SJSU finishes the season ranked in the top 15 the for the entire 2022 season.
- The Spartans and UCSB will face off for the third time this season. The Gauchos won the two prior meetings.
- Bende Pardi enters the tournament leading the team in scoring with 29 goals on the season.
- Niels Hofmeijer enters as well with 43 sprint wins, good for top three in the GCC.
- Laszlo Szieben ranks sixth in the conference with 27 assists throughout regular season conference play.
- Szieben is also tied for first in field blocks throughout conference play with five total.
- Pardi (Second Team) and Bence Szabo (Honorable Mention) were selected to the GCC All-Conference Team.
- Erik Duesund and Javi Ibanez were both selected to the GCC All-Freshmen team.
- The Spartans rattled off five straight victories throughout the month of October both on the road and at home.
Next Up: If they win Friday night, the Spartans will go on to play against No. 2 Cal State Long Beach in the Semi-Finals on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
