SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State football (6-3, 4-2 Mountain West) stays on the road at Utah State (5-5, 4-2 Mountain West) on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. (PT) on FS1 and KTRB 860 AM.

  • The Spartans have won five out of their last seven and are looking for their first win against Utah State since 10/11/08 in a 30-7 Spartan victory. The Spartans haven't won in Logan since 9/22/2007 in a 23-20 win.
  • SJSU has played an NCAA low nine games this season and every game has started at 5:30 p.m. local time or later.
  • The Spartans are bowl eligible for the first time since 2020. Brennan is looking for his second bowl game as head coach of the Spartans and the first head coach to lead the Spartans to two bowl games since Claude Gilbert in 1986 and 1987. Gilbert is a member of both the SJSU and SDSU Hall of Fame's.
  •  With the win over CSU, Brennan has passed his mentor Dick Tomey for seventh on the Spartans all-time head coach win list with 26.
  • The Spartans have 19 sacks in their last three games and are fifth in the country and first in the MW averaging 3.44 sacks per game. The Spartans lead the MW with 31 total sacks. The Spartans nine sacks against CSU (11/05) is the most for SJSU this century. Grad linebacker Alii Matau had a career best three sacks against CSU (11/05).
  • Junior defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko had a career-high 12 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss and tied a career-high with two sacks against Nevada (10/29). Fehoko was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career (10/31) and is the fourth to receive that honor for the Spartans this season. Fehoko leads the Spartans with seven sacks and has a sack in five of his last six games.
  • Junior quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, who has been named MW Offensive Player of the Week twice this season (10/03, 10/10), went 170 passing attempts before throwing his first interception as a Spartan on a deflected ball at Fresno State (10/15). Cordeiro has 14 passing touchdowns and eight rushing touchdowns this season which is a career-high and he leads the Mountain West with 2,420 passing yards. Cordeiro is the first SJSU QB to run for eight touchdowns in a season during the modern era and this three passing TD's at SDSU (11/12) was a season-high.
  • The Spartans have only four offensive turnovers this season and five overall. SJSU is number two in the country with only four turnovers and are tied for sixth in the country with a +10 turnover margin.

COACHES SHOW:

For the first time since 2018, the San José State Coaches Show will air over the radio. Justin Allegri will host and have segments each week from head coach Brent Brennan, special guests and players. Each broadcast can be heard on Thursday night at 7 p.m. on KTRB.

Teskes Germania will be the site of the San José State Coaches Show and it will be taped in front of a live audience every Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The restaurant is located at 255 N First St. in San Jose and more information can be found here.
