Smevog Receives Fourth MW Defensive Player of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—For the fourth time this season, San José State libero Sarah Smevog has been honored as the Mountain West Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, this time for her play against Fresno State and San Diego State in her final home matches.

  • Averaged 5.86 digs, 1.29 assists and 0.43 aces per set in the final two home matches of her Spartan career
  • Best defensive match of the year with 27 digs, the 26th match in her career with 20 or more digs, against San Diego State in her final match inside Spartan Gym
  • Moved into ninth all-time in the Mountain West in career digs at 1,708
  • Added a team-high three service aces against the Aztecs
  • Started the weekend with 14 digs and four assists in a sweep of Fresno State

 
UP NEXT – The Spartans enter the 2022 Mountain West Volleyball Tournament as the second seed and will face the winner of the Colorado State/San Diego State match on Thursday, November 24 at 4 p.m. MT/3 p.m. PT. The championship match will be played on Friday, November 25, at 6:30 p.m. MT/5:30 p.m. PT.
