Spartans Victorious Over Broncos

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Omari Moore scored 24 points and Sage Tolbert III recorded his third double-double of the season as the San José State men's basketball team used a strong second half scoring to win 75-64 at Santa Clara Saturday afternoon inside the Leavey Center.
 

  • Moore scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half and accounted for seven more buckets as he dished out seven assists in the win. He played all 40 minutes for the Spartans
  • Tolbert had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win, scoring 11 in the first half including the team's first bucket of the game, a three-pointer from the right baseline.
  • Tolbert was 4-for-4 from three-point range, the most he has made in a game in his career and almost doubling his output for the season.
  • Ibrahima Diallo grabbed 10 rebounds for the Spartans, his second consecutive double-figure rebounding game this season.
  • Diallo also had two blocks in the win, one coming late in the second half (4:27) that led to him making a bucket in the paint and giving SJSU a four-point lead.
  • San José State trailed 37-29 at halftime to the Broncos and then outscored them 46-27 in the second half.
  • The Spartans shot 60.9 percent from the field in the second half, making 14-of-23 in the second 20 minutes.
  • SJSU took its first lead of the game at 55-53 on a Garrett Anderson layin with 8:38 remaining.
  • Moore made a layup with 4:41 left in the game to give SJSU the 61-59 lead, and the Spartans never looked back in the game.
  • The win breaks a three-game losing streak in the series to the Broncos.

 
UP NEXT – The Spartans spend the next week finishing up finals before traveling to Stockton for a non-conference matchup with Pacific on Saturday, December 17. The two teams will tip at 4 p.m., inside the Alex G. Spanos Center.
