SAN JOSE, Calif — Giancarlo Marquez has signed his National Letter of Intent with SJSU Water Polo, head coaches Bruce Watson and Gabor Saruci announced Monday. Giancarlo will join the SJSU Water Polo program in fall 2023.

- Marquez played on both junior and youth Canadian national teams in 2023 at the Pan-Am's and World Championships where he was the leading goal scorer at both competitions.
- He also competed in the Canadian NCL League and was the top scorer in Canada with 117 goals in 20 games.
- Coming by way of Pacific Storm Water Polo club, where he won Western Nationals in 2018.
- Winner of the 2022 John Stockdale Award following his club season. Stockdale is in the Canadian Water Polo Hall Of Fame.
- Has two older sisters, Erica and Alessia Marquez who both played NCAA Division I Softball at Azusa Pacific University (Erica) and Cal State Northridge (Alessia).
