SAN JOSE, Calif — San Josè State (2-8, 0-0 MW) set a new season high in scoring as they defeated UC San Diego (2-7, 0-0 Big West) 70-56 Sunday evening at home. Jada Holland set a new season-high with 17 points and led the way as six Spartans scored at least eight points.
- SJSU set season-highs for field goal percentage (48 percent) and three pointers made with 10 as they held UCSD to just 38 percent shooting.
- Sabrina Ma (12), Marisa Davis-Jones (11), Sidney Richards (9), Nailea Nicholas (9) and Jasmine Singleton (8) combined for 49 of the team's 70 total points.
- Ma went 4/4 from the three-point line to lead the Spartans.
- Holland started the game 7/7 from the field and finished shooting 80 percent overall.
- Davis-Jones and Nicholas also knocked down a combined five 3-pointers.
- The Spartans held the Tritons to just 26.7 percent shooting in the second quarter while they shot 72.7 percent from the field.
- SJSU also knocked down a season-high 12 free throws.
- The Spartans also recorded a season-high 11 steals and caused UCSD to commit 17 turnovers.
- Singleton had a game-high five steals while Holland recorded four steals.
- Singleton also made it to the line 10 times on the evening.
