SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State women's basketball begins Mountain West conference play this week with matchups against Nevada and Boise State. Tipoff versus Nevada is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 29 and tipoff against Boise State is set for 12 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, December 31st.
The Fast Break
- The Spartans enter this week on a high after a couple of promising performances before the Christmas break.
- On the team's most recent home stand, they won 70-56 over UC San Diego and battled to a tough 54-43 loss against Hawaii.
- Jasmine Singleton had her two best scoring outputs of the season in the two games.
- The junior guard registered eight points against the Tritons and a career-high 12 points against the Rainbow Wahine.
- The Spartans have excelled with their aggressive defense and ball pressure this season as they rank fourth in the Mountain West in steals.
- Jada Holland ranks first in the conference in steals at 2.6 per game and Singleton ranks sixth at 2.3 per game.
- Singleton has recorded five steals in back-to-back games.
vs. Nevada
- The Nevada Wolfpack enter the matchup against the Spartans on a five-game losing streak.
- Nevada most recently played Montana State and lost to the Bobcats, 64-43.
- The Spartans took the Bobcats to overtime earlier this season (Nov. 22) before falling 74-65 in the extra frame.
- The Spartans have a 30-29 all-time record over the Wolfpack however Nevada won both matchups between the two sides in the 2021-2022 season.
vs. Boise State
- The Boise State Broncos will face the Spartans after opening the Mountain West portion of their season against San Diego State on Thursday, December 29th.
- The Broncos enter the contest against San Diego State fresh off a trip to the South Padre Island Classic where they went 1-1, losing 70-62 to Texas Rio Grande Valley and winning 75-66 over Texas A&M Commerce.
- The Spartans are 14-25 all-time against the Broncos.
- SJSU went 2-0 against Boise State in the 2021-2022 season, winning 61-59 on January 29th and 68-63 on February 28th.
