SAN JOSE, Calif.—Behind 15 points from Omari Moore and 11 off the bench from Tibet Görener, the San José State men's basketball team starts Mountain West play 1-0 with a 75-72 overtime win over UNLV Wednesday night at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

- Moore, while 4-for-14 from the field, was a solid 7-of-9 from the free throw line in the win.
- He also dished out seven assists in the win, contributing to another 18 Spartan points, accounting for 44 percent of the Spartan offense.
- Görener made three three-pointers and two free throws and grabbed five rebounds for SJSU.
- Robert Vaihola came off the bench and led the team with a career-best 13 rebounds, his second double-digit rebound game of the season.
- The Spartan bench was big in the win with 33 points, accounting for 44 percent of the offense.
- Freshman Garrett Anderson came off the bench and played a season-high 19 minutes. He scored six points and was 4-for-5 from the free throw line including scoring the final three Spartan points in overtime from the line.
- Despite playing just 11 minutes, Ibrahima Diallo continued his streak of at least two blocked shots in a game for the ninth straight game as he recorded one block in each half. Diallo also grabbed six rebounds and made two free throws.
- The Spartans trailed 25-22 with 8:22 in the first half and went on a 19-5 run to end the half and lead 41-30 at halftime.
- San José State is now 10-4 on the season and 1-0 in the MW, the first time in school history SJSU has started MW play 1-0 since joining the conference in 2013-14.
- The Spartans won their 10th game of the season for the first time since 2016-17 when that team went 14-16 under Dave Wojcik.
- The win also ends a 10-game losing streak to the Runnin' Rebels. The Spartans last defeated UNLV, 76-74, on February 11, 2017, in Las Vegas. It is just the seventh win in the series for San José State.

UP NEXT – The Spartans go on the road for the next two games, playing at Colorado State Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT to end 2022 and at Boise State next Tuesday, January 3, at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT to start 2023.
