Spartans Start Hot but Finish Cold in Loss to Nevada

RENO, Nev.
—Jasmine Singleton scored nine points and brought down five rebounds to lead San José State women's basketball (2-10, 0-1 MW) in a 64-47 loss to Nevada (4-8, 1-0 MW) on Thursday afternoon.
 

  • The Spartans got off to a terrific start, outscoring Nevada 15-9 in the first quarter.
    • The Spartans extended the lead to 23-14 midway through the second quarter before Nevada responded and controlled the rest of the game.
  • Singleton shot 4-7 from the field and led the Spartans in scoring for the second consecutive game.
  • Amhyia Moreland and Sidney Richards both produced eight points.
  • Moreland collected a game-high two blocks. 
    • The sophomore forward has recorded a rejection in three consecutive games and in nine games this season.
  • Richards tied her career high of three steals in a game.
    • The sophomore guard has accomplished the feat two other times this season.
