- The road MW win is the first true road conference win for the Spartans since the 2016-17 season when SJSU won at UNLV, 76-74, on February 11, 2017. The Spartans had four players in double figures that game, led by Jaycee Hillsman with 16.
- Spartan head coach Tim Miles returned to Colorado State for the first time since leaving in 2012 when he took the head coaching job at Nebraska.
- Miles is now 2-0 on the season when facing former assistants. Rams head coach Niko Medved was an assistant during the Colorado State years. In the win over Ball State, Miles faced another assistant in Michael Lewis who worked with Miles during the Nebraska years.
