SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State women's basketball continues Mountain West conference play this week with a home matchup against Wyoming on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

THE FAST BREAK

  • The Spartans are coming off an 84-58 loss to UNLV. In the loss, Marisa Davis-Jones, Aarion Nichols and Sabrina Ma led the Spartans with 13, 12 and 11 points respectively.
  • The Spartans have been on fire from beyond the three-point arc the last two games, connecting on 13 of 25 attempts (52%).
  • The Spartans have excelled with their aggressive defense and ball pressure this season as they rank fourth in the Mountain West in steals (9.44 steals per game).
    • Jada Holland ranks first in the conference in steals at 2.47 per game and Jasmine Singleton ranks fifth at 2.19 per game.
  • Holland has registered at least one steal in 14 straight games.
  • Singleton has registered at least one steal in eight straight games.
  • Ma has scored at least 10 points in back-to-back games and in three of the previous four games.

VS. WYOMING

  • The Cowgirls won their most recent contest in dramatic fashion, 61-60 over Air Force on Wednesday night.
  • The Cowgirls have won three games in a row.
    • In addition to the win over Air Force, Wyoming defeated Fresno State in double overtime and New Mexico in regulation.
  • Allyson Fertig leads the Cowgirls in the paint. The sophomore center is second in the conference in rebounding at 9.47 per game and third in the conference in blocks at 1.80 per game.
  • As a team, the Cowgirls have the third-best rebounding margin in the conference at +4.20 and the fourth-best blocks per game mark in the conference at 3.60.
  • Unlike the Spartans, the Cowgirls have struggled at forcing turnovers this season. Wyoming has the second-fewest steals in the conference, averaging six per game.
