SPOKANE, Wash. — Gabby Spencer, Kaiya Johnson, Emilia Sjostrand, Bryson Smith and Micah Hairston lead the Spartans in their first test of the season on the road at the Spokane Indoor Challenge on Saturday.
Gabby Spencer, Jr.
- First event: 60m Preliminary Round at 11:30 am
- Also competing in the 200m and 4x400m relay
- Set program record in the 200m at the Don Kirby Invitational (indoor) last year with a time of 24.23
Kaiya Johnson, Sr.
- First event: 60m Preliminary Round at 11:30 am
- Also competing in the 400m and 4x400m relay
- Mountain West All-Conference in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022
Emilia Sjostrand, So.
- First event: Triple Jump at 2:30 pm
- Outdoor All-Mountain West in 2022
- Broke school record by jumping 13.19 in the triple jump last year at the Fresno State Invitational
Bryson Smith, So.
- First event: Shot Put at 12:30 pm
- 2022 Outdoor Track and Field All-Mountain West
- Spent freshman season learning under veteran SJSU record-holders Bryan Quintero, Gabriel Coronado and Jacob Lopez
Micah Hairston, Sr.
- First event: 60m Hurdles Preliminary Round at 11:15 am
- Also competing in the 200m and 4x400m relay
- Three-time Conference USA men's team champion
